What the job usually involves
- Finding whether it's the washer, the cartridge or the tap body that has failed.
- Replacing the washer or cartridge, or removing the old tap and fitting the new one.
- Replacing the flexible connector hoses under the sink if they're old.
- Checking for leaks at the base and under the counter.
- If the tap won't shut off, close the angle valve under the sink, or the main water valve for the unit.
- Note the brand of the tap if you can see it. Cartridges are often brand-specific.

- Book the one you want. We hold your payment, and the plumber is paid after the job is done and you've had time to check it.
Common questions
Repair or replace a dripping tap?
If the tap is otherwise in good condition, a new washer or cartridge is usually enough. If it's corroded, wobbly at the base, or the cartridge isn't available, replacing it is often the better value.
Who supplies the new tap?
Either. If you supply it, the quote covers labour. If you want the plumber to supply it, say what kind you want, and the quote will include it.
